As soon as we arrived, we felt at ease as the receptionist offered us a seat and a drink, while she prepared our keys and checked us in. The whole building has a very industrial chic to it, with bare concrete walls and modern/concealed lighting. There is a lift, which was built with the new extension at the back of the property. The floor levels of the extension are in between the floors in the original building, so there was a small flight of stairs to climb from the nearest lift stop to get to our room in the old building. But that really wasn't a problem. The poor female receptionist even insisted on trying to carry our very heavy cases up the stairs. Our double room was very well laid out. While the footprint of the room was no bigger than other hotels we stayed in in Japan, it felt more spacious. Sliding wooden doors closed off the bathroom area, and also revealed a tea station. They even managed to fit in a desk and two chairs at the head of the bed. Plus we had a balcony. The view was only over the quiet street, but it was nice to have one. The room decor was the same, with concrete walls, and overhead and low level lighting, and exposed wooden beams. The Toto toilet was the most sophisticated one we experienced in Japan. An amazing array of features. If we can find one in the UK, we may be buying one. There were complimentary umbrellas in a stand outside our room, which we made use of on a couple of rainy days. And the reception staff were more than happy to help us with restaurant bookings, which was much appreciated. Location wise, it was only a short walk to the nearest main road, with regular bus services to Kyoto station. The walk to Kyoto station took about 20 minutes.

If you enjoy boutique hotels over corporate chains and appreciate a warm, homey atmosphere, this one comes highly recommended. It is uniquely designed, spacious, and exceptionally clean—just like in the photos. The beds were very comfortable, and we truly felt at home during our stay. We also really appreciated the excellent service and support from the hotel staff. It offers great value for money. While it's about a 10-minute walk to the nearest train station, if you're comfortable with walking, the location is perfect. The neighborhood is charming, with plenty of fantastic local restaurants nearby. We would absolutely recommend this place and would love to stay here again!

We loved this hotel! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Before arrival we had asked if they could accommodate a vegetarian meal and they were more than helpful to. -The breakfast was delicious every morning and I wish all of our hotels had this feature. It was so nice to not eat yogurt and edamame/fruit from the konbini and instead have a real, warm meal. Even though it was just the two of us, we splurged on a larger room. -A lot of hotels in Japan have really close twin beds and since I was traveling with my teenage kid, I wanted us to have more space. We loved having a dining table and couch. And it felt like we had an apartment for a few days, we loved it! Very close to subway and bus stops and lots of restaurants within walking distance. The room was very quiet and the natural light was great.

This has been the best place my family and I stayed at in our visit to Japan. The staff were super friendly and lovely. We arrived abit earlier than our check in time. The lady at reception was super nice and offered us drinks whilst we waited for our room. She kept updating us on when our room was ready. We were able to check in around midday-ish The room was beautiful, the beds were super comfy especially for my mom who wasn't feeling well. There was a fire place outside our room but we didn't get to use it as half of us were not feeling well. The room has a fridge, coffee machine and nice robes and slippers with socks ❤️

Hotel Itoya Mon is a super cute boutique hotel that was the perfect home base for our 4-day trip to Kyoto! The hotel itself is fairly small (less than 20 rooms), creating an intimate vibe. While the building itself is quite old, they've done a great job renovating it and the common areas feel warm and stylish. While the room is quite small (all rooms in Japan are!), we loved the warm uplighting, the smart use of space, and the large queen bed.

We were blown away by the hotels quality for the cost of the stay. One of the coziest hotels I have ever stayed at. The staff was very friendly and polite, when we first came in we were given different options of drinks to choose from and enjoy while we were being checked in. There were a ton of free amenities to take at no extra cost in the lounge downstairs. The shower room was very spacious and there was also a filtered water system on the sink. The bed was comfortable and the view wasn’t terrible either.

Our room was beautiful and well-equipped. The check-in process was quick and easy, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a welcome drink upon arrival. The hotel has a great metro connection, and there are shops nearby, which was very convenient. We have never stayed in such a stunning hotel before, and the experience was truly exceptional. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful—even on our last day, after check-out, they took care of our luggage so we could explore Kyoto a bit more before leaving. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing place. Beautiful design and impeccably thought out. Staff were just so kind and helfpul. The room was super spacious with a sweet view across the roof tops of Kyoto. The location is in one of the best parts of Kyoto to take in cool day to day Japanese life whilst still being walking distance from the awesome Nishiki markets and great food / shopping. Thank you Itoya Mon.

The detail in the service was appreciated. They remembered my request for extra pillows. The breakfast is adorable, delicious, and delivered to your door in a little basket. The room is authentic, comfortable, and well thought out. The amenities are plentiful from take home slippers and socks to free umbrellas to food trays. The shower is heaven. The location is near all sorts of public transportation. My teen and I were very happy in our double twin.

We loved our stay here, the space was a good size and had everything we needed. The price is very reasonable for the area and being walking distance from Kyoto station was very ideal. The location is great and though Kyoto is quite spread out, we this hotel seems quite central to everything. The staff here were lovely also and room was very clean. We would stay here again if visiting Kyoto!
